Why choose a teardrop caravan?

We decided on a teardrop caravan as our own camping setup and while selling our Hero Campers and Procamp Mini Caravans, we have spoken to a lot of customers about this too. It’s always interesting to hear why people choose a teardrop style camper and what they are looking for. In this blog we will give an overview of the main reasons we see people choosing one of our campers and why we both love this camping style.

How do you define our campers, it’s an interesting one…… are they a teardrop trailer, teardrop caravan, micro caravan or camper? We sometimes use all these terms and I suppose it doesn’t really matter what we call it. What matters to us is the functionality and ease of use on our adventures.

A number of our customers have said to us they do not see themselves as caravan owners and that is exactly the same for us. We are tent campers at heart and this type of setup gives us the outdoor living whilst having all the luxuries that a teardrop caravan brings.

Okay, so here we go with the top reasons people choose a teardrop caravan….

  • Towing - all our teardrop caravans are very easy to tow, they are lightweight and all are braked, so towable by most vehicles. We find lots of people do not want to tow a big caravan around and they want their setup to get them places you could not take a large caravan. We have ended up in places we would never dream of towing a large caravan and sometimes have been unable to turn around. Simple solution is to unhitch and simply spin the caravan around by hand and hitch up again with no stress.

  • Outdoor Living with Indoor Luxury - as mentioned above the ability to have an outdoor living space with a kitchen all ready to go, then the indoor luxury of a nice comfy bed with heating and storage. This gives the ability to be very comfortable in all weathers but also in touch with nature at the same time.

  • Camp anywhere - Tow your teardrop caravan to places you would not take a traditional caravan and setup camp. Teardrop trailers are equally as comfortable on an organised campsite or camping on your own in the wilderness.

  • Don’t need to pack everyday - Keep your spot and drive away without packing. A big problem with camper-vans, especially when you don’t have a set site and your staying for more than one night.

  • Caravan Storage - storing the teardrop caravan needs much less space than a traditional caravan avoiding storage fees. Some of our models will also fit into a standard size garage.

  • Off the grid camping - There are many accessories to make our caravans perfect for off-grid camping.

  • Its like getting into your own bed at home - You can have full size cozy bedding made up on a comfy mattress. Unlike tent based camping, there is no deflating cold and damp air beds and you don’t make the bed up every night, it’s all ready to go.

  • Lego Camping - We like to think of our setups as Lego camping as we setup differently each time depending on where we are camping, the length of stay and what the weather is like… There are many options for awnings and walls which can be setup in different ways.

  • Adventure Equipment - Carrying equipment with a Teardrop Trailer is easy… There is enough storage space in the kitchen and inside to store all the usual equipment you need for your adventures. The caravan can be kept all ready to go with only clothes and food to add for a quick getaway. For carrying more equipment the front storage box and roof rack systems allow for all sorts of adventure gear to be carried with ease… are you taking bikes, canoes or do you need additional sleeping space with a roof top tent?

These are just some of the reasons to choose a Teardrop style caravan. If you have any questions on your own requirements then please get in touch.
