Every model has a different weight as it comes out of the factory including accessories you add to the base model. You can check the weights in the technical details section within the model pages.
Lets use the Ranger as an example. The total weight is 827KG (Basic Config) with a total load carrying capacity of 1200KG. This will give you 373KG for your own gear. You need to consider that the more accessories you add, the total weight out of the factory will be greater, If you choose a Columbus Hero Ranger this will be around 850KG depending on any additional options you choose, so 350KG of load can be carried.
-
Most vehicles will be able to tow the range of caravans but you do need to check for your vehicle.
You will need to check the total towing weight you can have and what the total weight on the tow ball can be. This can then be checked against the technical details of each Teardrop Caravan model available on the model pages.
Please make sure that your vehicle is capable of taking a tow bar. Most vehicles are but some are not so check with the manufacturer.
The standard tow electrics are the new standard 13 pin which you will find in most newer vehicles. If you don’t have this we will supply an adapter, however without the 13 pin connection your caravan batteries will not charge while driving.
-
All of our caravans have brakes as standard. So when you looking at the towing capacity for your vehicle look at the braked towing capacity.
